Eighth (But Technically Ninth) Disappointing Blog Post

Last week was definitely not the best time, but I'm going to try to make up for it with this blog post.  For this weeks song, I chose "Crocodile Rock"  by Elton John.  I've always loved this song!  I've loved hearing it in movies, on the radio, and then I got to listen to it for school!  Which I have to admit, was pretty great.  This song starts out with three piano chords, then goes into an upbeat melody with synthetic sounding instruments added to the piano base sound.  Then in the chorus, it sounds like there was a little country influence, along with the upbeat, classic rock 'n' roll sound.  Overall, "Crocodile Rock"  is an upbeat, and fun song that you can really move your feet to.  Hence the lyric, "Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking, when your feet just can't sit still.  I never knew me a better time, and I guess I never will."

This song really has a sense of nostalgia associated with it.  Remembering those good old times when we were young, going dancing on Friday nights, the best times we ever had, etc.  But right after these nostalgic memories, after the first chorus, it talks about how rock faded away and things aren't the same.  Which I think is how it goes with these types of sentimental songs.  They always end up talking about having to grow up, that things change, things will never be as "thrilling" as they used to be.  Aside from this verse, the rest of the song is super fun and upbeat, fitting the fast tempo of the music moving with it.

My favorite part of this song would have to be the chorus.  The music and lyrics just make you want to get up and dance.  The chorus also has the most classic rock 'n' roll sound to it, which I love!  It really adds dimension from the synthetic sounds, adding drums, guitar, bass, etc.  As a whole, this song is really awesome!  It's a good one for any time, a party, canyon drive, literally anything.  "Crocodile Rock"  by Elton John, is just too good!!  I highly recommend it. :)

  1. Nostalgic songs are my favorites. UI love how they paint a picture of the times the songs were written in. the effect is way cool. I'm more of a "Rocketman" type of guy myself, but great review. You really went into depth and definitely would've made Mr. Elton John himself proud w this analysis.

  2. I love Elton john!! Honestly one of my all time favorite artists. I love how this song is a total party song. My favorite part is how he says “while the other kids were rocking around the clock we were hoppin and boppin.” I think this captures the whole song and the party vibe it gives.

  3. this is an awesome song! just like every song Elton John is a part of it instantly becomes a massive hit! and this song is no exception to that rule. Everything about the song is just super catchy but the best part about this song for me is it brings back all the fond memories of the crocodile hunter and I get to re live all the awesome times I had watching him while I was growing up.
